The History & Tradition Behind the Gear

The grass rope noseband is deeply rooted in traditional Texas horsemanship. Early cowboys hand-braided these out of natural Manila hemp or sisal rope. They loved the material because its rigid texture allowed them to guide young horses with light, clear signals without using a heavy bit.

While traditional hemp rotted from sweat and rain, our modern poly grass is built to last. You get the authentic weight, look, and stiffness of the classic cowboy gear, but with modern durability that stands up to weather and hard ranch work. The single-rope profile offers a slightly lower profile on the horse's nose than the double-rope version. This makes it an excellent choice for horses that are already responsive and soft.
